Our Story

Destroy Doubt

Winnipeg is a city known for its passion: for our teams, our prairies and our people. We're often underestimated, so we work harder than those who think anything's going to be handed to them.

What We Stand For

People doubt us in Winnipeg and what we're capable of. But our track record proves otherwise.

We're committed to helping Winnipeg come out of its own shadow, helping more people discover their love for this sport—and to bring a fan experience that rivals any bigger city.

Story

The tides have shifted. Progress in women's sports isn't just possible, it's inevitable.

The Northern Super League's inaugural season reached more than 6 million fans. Women's sports are one of the fastest-growing sectors on TV and streaming services, and this city and our soccer community are ready to take off with it.

The energy shift is palpable. Like a cultural current propelling us forward. And Winnipeg is ready to rise with it.

We can't sit back and hope someone chooses to rep Winnipeg. We all have to build the city we want to live in. We all have to create what's possible. Nothing is expected of us, so we fight for everything we get. We show up and rep the city we believe in, hard.

Here, there's no such thing as being a little bit of a fan. As underdogs, we all dig deep to find that bit extra. If we're going to rival the fans and teams in bigger Canadian cities, we need to eradicate all doubt about what we deserve—and instead—take it.

Desiree Scott, Co-Founder

A living legend in the game, Desiree Scott is the ultimate symbol of what's possible for a Winnipegger with tenacity and heart. Born and raised in Winnipeg's North End, Desiree grew to playing on the world stage after reaching the ultimate heights locally: playing premier club soccer and finishing her university career for the University of Manitoba Bisons as the record-holder for most career points and assists (which she still holds today).

Desiree's 15-year professional playing career took her around the world between Canada, the US and England, spending much of her career as a captain of the NWSL's Kansas City Current, playing in the first purpose-built stadium for professional women's soccer and culminating in a championship appearance in 2022. During her final year on the pitch, she was named Captain of the Ottawa Rapid FC during the NSL's inaugural season, where she helped lead the team to a semi-final berth.

Most notably, Desiree is a four-time Olympian, having won bronze medals in London 2012 and Rio 2016, and earning gold in Tokyo 2020. Nicknamed "The Destroyer" for her relentless play, she earned 188 caps for Canada, becoming one of the most capped players in program history. She was appointed to the Order of Manitoba in 2022—the highest honour for a local to achieve—and Ottawa named her final day on the pitch "Desiree Scott Day" in her honour.

Always giving back, Desiree loves being a role model in her community and stays committed to inspiring the next generation and supporting young players to dream big and fall in love with the game. Now, she's bringing an opportunity to future players she could have only dreamed of when she was growing up.

Rob Gale

Rob Gale, Co-Founder

One of the more prolific and acclaimed contributors to Canadian soccer, Rob Gale was born in Zambia to British parents, and grew up in Tanzania and England, before moving to Canada full-time in 2005.

The lifelong Arsenal fan signed for the Football League Third Division club Fulham at age 14 and trained with the Second Division's Wycombe Wanderers before an injury sidelined him for a year. This break allowed him to begin coaching and culminated in his most illustrious contributions to football, coaching national men's youth teams for the better part of a decade. He led the Canada U-17 men's national team to qualify for successive FIFA U-17 World Cup tournaments and helmed a series of teams U-20 and younger as head coach from 2011 to 2018. While living in Winnipeg, Rob also played for the Winnipeg Alliance, Winnipeg Lucania and Sons of Italy clubs before retiring from play in 2012.

His vision, positivity and enduring belief in Winnipeg as a "football town" contributed to the establishment of Valour FC, which competed in the Canadian Premier Club for six years. He coached Valour FC from 2018 to 2021, then went on to coach the NWSL's Portland Thorns, leading them to back-to-back-to-back playoff appearances in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Now, Rob is joining forces with Desiree with the belief in the NSL as a movement, not a moment, and the desire to build a lasting legacy and enduring love for a football club in Winnipeg.
